I will hopefully be speaking to someone with 60 Minutes this Thursday in McClure, Virginia. This child doesn't have a staph infection and the children who are dying from the flu aren't dying from the flu. Right now MRSA ( methicillin resistant staphylcoccus aureas ) is causing a huge problem but soon MRSA will be over taken by VRE ( vancomyacin resistant entercocci ) I've been asking the health care system, health boards, president's and potentates for over five years when we are going to address MRSA. They are good at giving you and excuse, passing you on, or no reply at all, how many more children need to suffer like Luke before someone listens ?

My heart goes out to Luke and his Family. Just watching 60 minutes tonight, I have become more knowledgeable of the H1N1 virus and the vaccine. I was not going to get the vaccine, but after watching this story of Luke, I have decided that is is best to protect myself and my family. I will get the vaccine whenever it becomes available in my area. May God continue to give Luke the strength to hang on and perservere. Our prayers are with Luke and his Family.

Those who do not wish to take the H1N1 have the freedom not to. I strongly suggest, however, a visit to an old cemetery, to review the headstones listing 1918-1920 dates of death.
If you don't want to get the vaccination, don't--but stop the hysterical comments trying to influence others not to get it, which comments I think reflect ignorance on your part. I.e., "Henny Penny, the sky is falling".

I woke up this morning and got a cup of coffee and logged on to my favorite web site here and was upset to see the Luke story but also it gave me hope to see that Luke will be ok. I can tell by the way his parents and coach talk that he is a fighter and our prayers go out to you Luke and you hang in there, You are a fighter and you WILL go far in life, You are lucky to have such fine people around you! Take care buddy!

Luke does not just have H1N1 - listen again. He also had a staph infection and they had to insert a tube to drain infected fluids from arond one lung.
No one in the video states whether or not this is a complication of the H1N1 virus. Most likely it is - and it's because too often, people do not take the time to get well when they have a cold or the flu. That is the real danger of H1N1. It weakens the immune system so even though you may feel well, you are not well enough to be out.

Over-the-counter cold remedies assist in this problem. All cold remedies do is make you feel better by masking the symptoms. You still have a high viral load, you are still infectious even though you feel well enough to work.

I'm praying for Luke
Watching this about Luke makes my heart hurt for him and his parents and reminds me of my 17 year old son and to think of my son lying there fighting for his life like Luke aches for the family and thankful that I am not in their shoes right now, I want my children to get the Flu /H1N1 shots but there seems to be none available anywhere and when it is available there is not enough to go around
just today they had 500 doses available at a clinic in North Carolina and before they even oepned they were telling people at the door they were already out.....
I hope the parents get their son back soon healthy

I didn't see this segment. Did the report state whether or not Luke had taken the H1N1 vaccine?

My best friend Lynn lost her 24 year old daughter Beth on 6/23/09 from the H1N1 virus. It took her life in 20 days. She was a healthy, vibrant, talented young lady. Watching this segment on Luke, both of us relived the days when Beth was in ICU and struggling to hang onto life. I am extremely concerned about this youngster, only 14 years old. We have been praying for Luke and his family. Please keep us updated on his condition......this virus is no joke!!!

Oil of Oregano in capsules and drops. (If you choose the capsule, cut off the top and pour down back of throat.) Get well soon.

God Bless Luke and his Mom and Dad for sharing the private struggle of his illness to help other people. I am a stranger that saw your story on-line. I am praying for all of you and look forward to hearing that Luke has left the hospital healthy.

Oil of Oregano works wonders on flu and colds. Available on-line as well as in nutritional sections of grocery/health food stores (Purity Products, Fred Meyer, Wild Oats, etc.) No patented pharmaceutical required.

I wish this could have been a segment that let the world see what a precious, loving family this is. Over the years, this family has become family to so many as they have laughed, cried and shared in each struggle of their congregation's lives. I have come to know these people over the past few years and they have taught me so much about faith. In this trying time, I have once again been amazed by their strength and dependence on our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We love you so much, Brother Chad and Sister Belinda! Luke, I can't wait to hug your neck and tell you how much I love you. I can't count the times I have regretted not doing so sooner. Hurry home, Luke!Bells Chapel needs their drummer back!

Endocrine Technology, LLC is New York Based Biotechnology Company. The Company is detailed at www.et.medem.com. We have advanced a Therapeutic Product ET 007SWF to which FDA has assigned PreIND number. The drug is made available under Single patient IND format. It has needed safety data. With respect to Luke's Problem - H1N1 turns Body's immune system to autoimmune & ignores the real job it is supposed to be doing -We wish to comment as under. There is hyperactivation of Alternate Complement System leading to release of C3a-C5a and inflammatory cytokines. Our drug ET 007 SWF stops this process by inhibiting Factor D of Alternate Complement system safely. This is the only life saving drug on Planet earth. WE welcome enquiries.

Dear mr Knoxville_voice_of_reason.Most of the time I would agree with you, but you are way off on this boy. I have been very close to Luke for the last 8 years . This is a real country boy. I have seen him helping his dad plant the garden and get honey from the bee hives. I have seen him in mud up to his waist digging his 4 wheeler out where he had gotten stuck when riding it in the mud. He is an avid hunter and fisher man. He traps beavers all by himself and I have seen him swimming in the creek many times. He has a 4. 0 grade point average and he is not a nerd. He is an all star in football and baseball. He is just an all around great young man any parent would love to have. There is a Facebook page with many pics of Luke being a NORMAL boy. This is why 60 minutes did this story so people can see that H1N1 can be very dangerous to some NORMAL kids. His grandmother has started a web site to keep people updated on Luke?s recovery. www.lukeduvall.org my e mail is terry72118@yahoo.com if you would like to ask me any questions.
